Working at Formby Gardener
We offer a variety of services for Formby garden owners. From March to October our main focus is delivering garden maintenance throughout the growing season. Then through November to February we focus on landscaping and larger tidy ups. As a Formby Gardener you’ll never get bored doing the same thing all the time as there’s always something new to do. As the seasons change, so do the jobs gardens require. You’ll be mowing, strimming, hedge trimming, planting and pruning through the spring and summer, and then clearing leaves, building garden structures and laying flags throughout autumn and winter.

Formby Gardener takes pride in offering a leading service to our customers by ensuring all our gardeners are competent and trained to operate tools and equipment safely. We send our staff on various training days and courses including the following:
- Safe Use of Brush Cutters and Trimmers
- Safe Use of Pedestrian Controlled Mowers
- Safe Use of Ride on Self Propelled Mowers
- Chainsaw Maintenance and Cross-cutting
- Felling Small Trees up to 380mm
- Ground Based Chainsaw Operator
- Dry Stone Walling
- Fine Turf and Lawn Maintenance
- Grounds Maintenance Work Equipment
- Safe Handling and Application of Pesticides
- Emergency First Aid at Work
Who we're looking for
Formby Gardener is committed to offering a leading garden maintenance service and we’re always on the lookout for potential gardeners who share our values and can deliver a market leading service and can uphold the highest standards.
Applicants are expected to show a commitment to the industry and must be willing to work outdoors in all weathers, work as part of a team, work on physically demanding tasks and be passionate about the industry. Before applying, think about what being a gardener is all about. Our work is seasonal and we’re busiest in the spring and summer months so we take our annual leave in the dormant months. We can’t leave our customers with their grass uncut at a time when its growing most vigorously. If you’re desperate for that summer holiday then maybe this isn’t the job for you.
